Dr David Livingstone may have spent a large portion of his life in Zambia and Central Africa but his travels and legacies are known world over. Here are some places sharing his name Livingstone is the capital of Southern province of Zambia. It was also, at one time, the capital of the Nation. This famed explorer was the first European to visit this part of the world due to his missionary work in the 19th century. The city became the capital of the territory in 1907 as part of what would become an entire Livingstone District on Zambia’s southern border. Nonetheless Zambia, then part of Northern Rhodesia, inevitable shifted its capital to Lusaka.
