Amazing Natural Wonder #1: Mud Volcanoes

Gobustan National Park is located about 64 Kms south west of the capital Baku. It was declared a national historical landmark in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, relics & gas stones in this regions. It is also an UNESO world heritage site.
The coast lines are home to nearly 400 mud volcanoes, more than half throughout the world. Apart from mud volcanoes Gobustan Rock Art cultural landscape covers three areas of plateau of rocky boulders rising from the semi desert of central Azerbaijan. There is an outstanding collection of more than 6000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 4000 years of rock art. The site also features the remains of the inhabited cave settlements and burials all reflecting and intensive human use.
